Some rooms just want to have a good time, and Angelina's Ristorante in Tottenville was one of them. I recently DJ'd a baby shower there, and it's the kind of event that reminds me why I do this.
A venue that works with you
Here's something people don't see from the dance floor: how smoothly an event runs has a lot to do with how well the DJ and the venue staff work together. At Angelina's, that part was effortless. The maître d' was on top of everything — when courses were coming out, when the room was ready for the next moment, when it was time to move — and kept me in the loop the whole afternoon.
That coordination matters more than most people realize. A DJ who syncs with the maître d' never talks over a course being served, never calls a big moment while half the room is at the buffet, and never leaves guests wondering what's happening next. It's a partnership, and when it clicks — like it did here — the whole party flows. (And for what it's worth: the food at Angelina's was delicious. Guests were raving in between sets.)
Vendors who sweat the details
The decorating team behind the room deserves a shout-out too: Every Little Detail (Instagram), the event planning, decor and dessert styling company that dressed the space. True to their name, every little detail was dialed in, and the room looked incredible before a single guest walked in. It was a genuine pleasure working alongside them to bring the party to life. When every vendor in the room is pulling in the same direction, the client feels it — and so do the guests.
Every generation on the floor
This crowd made it easy. Little kids, teens, parents, grandparents — all ages, and everyone danced. I read the room and kept it moving through Latin, oldies, disco, house, and Italian classics, and every set change brought a different generation to the floor. When the grandparents are dancing at the same party the teenagers are, you know the mix is right.
