The Late-Night Set
Roughly three in ten couples now plan a wedding after-party — and almost nobody plans the music for it. The reception DJ packs up, someone puts a phone on shuffle, and the best crowd of the night slowly drifts away. We think that hour deserves better.

An after-party is its own event. The formalities are done, the guest list has self-selected down to the people who came to dance, and the music can finally loosen up — hip-hop and throwbacks, house, freestyle, sing-alongs, the songs that didn't fit the reception. That set gets planned, mixed live and read off the floor, just like the reception did.

Three Ways NJ Couples Do It
Every option is quoted flat before you sign — no surprises at midnight.
Stay right where you are. If your venue allows an extension, the lights come down, the formalities are over and the set shifts into pure late-night mode — pre-booked overtime at a flat rate, written into your agreement so there's nothing to negotiate at 9:55.
Your guests are staying there anyway. We coordinate with the hotel, set up a compact rig in the bar or lounge, and your MC makes one announcement: "after-party in the lobby bar." No shuttle logistics, no second venue rental — just a room full of your people.
A private restaurant room, a brewery buyout, a bar with its own space, a shore house. We bring a dedicated after-party setup — compact sound, lighting, wireless mic — and a two-hour set built for 40 dancers instead of 140 guests. Works even if another DJ or band played your reception.
After 10 PM
A good after-party set has an arc. It opens with the re-entrance hits — the records that pull everyone back onto the floor while the room refills. Around the middle it swings into sing-alongs and throwbacks, the arms-around-shoulders stretch of the night. And the last stretch goes full club: harder mixes, longer blends, the explicit versions that waited politely all evening.
That arc doesn't happen on shuffle. It happens because someone is standing behind the decks watching the floor — which is the whole reason to have an after-party DJ instead of a playlist.
And the boring parts are handled too: the permission call to the bar, the load-in plan, town noise rules, how the second setup gets built while you're still cutting the cake. You celebrate; we move the party.

Asbury Park private rooms and rooftops. Red Bank bars walkable from the big waterfront venues. Pier Village lounges in Long Branch. Brewery buyouts in Monmouth and Middlesex — since 2024, New Jersey breweries can host private parties with DJs, and some even have a dedicated late-night Saturday slot. Hotel bars in New Brunswick and Princeton. Shore houses from Belmar to LBI.

Good to Know
Yes. You don't have to book us for your reception to book us for the after-party. If your wedding has a band, another DJ, or venue-provided entertainment, we can come in just for the late-night portion — our own compact system, our own setup, ready before your guests arrive.
Staying in your reception room is pre-booked overtime at a flat $250 per hour, written into your agreement. Moving to a second location — a private room, hotel bar, brewery or shore house — is a true after-party set starting at $1,000, quoted flat before you sign. For most weddings, 90 minutes to two hours is the sweet spot. The goal isn't a second five-hour reception — it's keeping the energy going for the guests who still want to dance and celebrate.
You don't have to decide at booking. Most couples write the after-party option into the agreement when they sign, then confirm about 30 days out — once the guest list, venue rules and hotel blocks are clearer.

Either works. Some couples host it — a private room with a bar package. Others announce a no-host gathering at the hotel bar where guests buy their own drinks. The DJ setup is booked by the couple either way; how the bar works is up to you, and we'll help you word the announcement so nobody's confused.
Many NJ towns tighten noise limits around 10 PM, which is exactly why after-party planning matters. Indoor private rooms are rarely an issue; for outdoor or residential settings we scale the system to the space and keep the party going without a knock on the door.
No formalities — that's the point. No introductions, no speeches, no timeline. One announcement to move the crowd if we're changing rooms, and from there it's a pure DJ set, mixed live and read off the floor.
